"House I"

5" x 5"
Oil on panel
Winona, MN

I love all the shadows the eaves and dormers and peaks cast all over this house. Great moment just as the light was fading from the day.

"Up and Away"

5" x 5"
Oil painting on hardboard panel

I really focused on injecting a bit more color into this little painting. I've been painting really shadowy brick buildings lately and they are mostly brown/black with grey skies. This one is more uplifting and cheery. Kinda like the weather outside this week! Come on spring!

"Green Shadows"

7" x 8"

This little green house shrouded in foliage and shadows is a few blocks from my house. It's your typical family home here in Winona. The shadows and light were playing perfectly when I was out for an afternoon walk the other day. The whole while I spent painting this I thought about the "Secret Garden". And I have to admit I know very little about the story other than the title. But this is to me the "Secret Green House".

Wow! It had been a while since I painted. And I always seem to go through periods of time where I paint a ton and then there are times where I get busy with life and can't seem to find the time. So hopefully I can go through one of those periods of productivity!

A house on the corner in Winona. This house is just around the block from where I live. I love painting trees: the light coming through the branches and leaves.

Lap siding. House near Winona State University. Blue. Daytime. Nice shadows.

All summer long I've walked by this house as they've done all sorts of construction projects - the roof, some siding, paint, and maybe more. It was a slow process. Mostly I saw the owner sitting on the small front porch eating sandwhiches. A nice thing to do on a summer day though!
